Why Jordan Palmer thinks former Utah QB Travis Wilson will catch 35 passes:
ESPN's Alden Gonzalez reported that Jordan Palmer, younger brother of Cardinals' QB Carson Palmer, has been taking bets that former Utah QB Travis Wilson will become an important part of the Los Angeles Rams' offense, as a tight end.
Gonzalez wrote that Wilson had stopped playing football after graduation.
"Wilson basically sat out the 2016 calendar year. He spent a significant part of it earning $12 an hour at a surf shop in Laguna Beach and did his best to stay in shape. He was going to move to Australia and play quarterback for a startup league on the other side of the world, but the inaugural season was postponed," the article stated.
He then wrote about Palmer's coaching of Wilson at the Elite 11, and how Palmer immediately told Wilson that to make it to the NFL, he would need to switch positions.
"He said, 'I want to play in the NFL,'" Palmer recalled. "So I said, 'Great, I think you're going to make a team as a tight end.' And, actually now, I think he's going to be a big part of the Rams' offense," the article read.
Following training from Palmer, the Rams worked out and signed Wilson on the spot.
He will be competing with the team's 44th overall selection in this year's draft, tight end Gerald Everett, as well second-year player Tyler Higbee for playing time, but Palmer is willing to bet that Wilson makes a name for himself.
Utah State women’s basketball adds Laura Daulton to 2017-18 roster:
Utah State announced, on the school's website, the signing of Laura Dalton to next season's women's basketball roster.
Daulton is a 6-foot-2 forward from Spring, Texas, who garnered all-state selections all four years of her high school career.
Aggie coach Jerry Finkbeiner was quoted in the article saying, "Laura is a good get for us late in the spring. We had someone transfer that we didn’t anticipate and wanted to be prudent with our scholarships. We were able to work with Laura and found that Utah State would be in her best interests. We are excited about the late signee and adding depth and good experience."
The article also said she is an excellent student, earning academic all-state honors and appearing on the honor roll all four years of high school.
