The San Jose State Spartans enter their game against the Utah Utes having already played a rather challenging schedule.

The 1-2 Spartans opened the season with a 42-22 loss to No. 22 South Florida, then beat Cal Poly 34-13 before getting drubbed by Texas 56-0 last weekend.

Here are some highlights from the game, as posted on the Longhorns' Twitter account.

San Jose State was picked in the summer to finish 10th in the 12-team Mountain West Conference (fifth in the West Division). Linebacker Frank Ginda, defensive back Andre Chachere and punter Michael Carrizosa were selected to the preseason all-conference team.

Chachere was the lone Spartan to make the first team at the end of the 2016 campaign.

On Monday, Spartans head coach Brent Brennan held his weekly press conference, where he reviewed the Texas game and previewed the Utah game. The first-year coach at San Jose State, Brennan should have some familiarity with the Utes, as he spent the previous six years as the wide receivers coach at Oregon State.
