Romney would be a carbon copy of John McCain or Bob Bennett in the senate. Utah couldn't wait to get rid of Bennett and elect conservative Mike Lee. Don't be fooled by Romney folks -- this guy is a fraud. He is NOT a conservative and will vote more with Democrats than with Replublicans. Don't let this RINO in the door. Utah can and must do better. Use Mike Lee as the model -- find a true conservative. Romney is a liberal and really ought to be a Democrat.

Romney would not be my first choice, and anyway if Hatch wants to run again I guess that will end the discussion.

I'm holding out hope for somebody pre-Medicare age.

IF he winds up being the delegate, I'll simply vote 3rd party.

WHY won't these octogenarians give it up, let some new blood in??

Why the buzz? Why the excitement?

ANY candidate is just one allegation away from defeat.

There doesn't need to be any real evidence, just the plausibility that there could have been contact.

Mitt has worked around thousands of women in his career, at church and on political campaigns.

All it takes is one person (even a man) who can show they had some association with Mitt some time in his life (even decades ago, the older the better) and his campaign is tainted.

    This applies to ALL candidates.

    Politics is dead.

I have never heard Mitt say a good thing about President Trump. I think Mitt is just another RINO - a John McCain junior - who would be another obstructionist in Congress.

What we need is less political endorsements from people like State Legislators who have their own duties to worry about. These guys are just posturing for a future in DC for themselves. Turn them all out next election since they are so interested in DC and their policies in Utah too many times are highly questionable.

I voted for Romney for President; I also voted for Trump. The latter was the best decision overall. We need someone very strong and bold to counter the left, the deep state (Obama), and the media right now.

The last thing we need is another RINO attacking President Trump. Therefore, I do not think Mitt Romney would be a good choice for U.S. Senator. However, I do think he would make a great Mission President.

Sen Hatch is good and been great but at his age it's time to retire. Romney will have an incredible voice of common sense, calmness and knowing what is right. He should have been President.

Sen. Hatch will be the one to make the decision as to whether or not Romney runs for his seat. If Hatch decides to run again he'll get re-elected.

Another eastern progressive like Hatch. We need a Utahn and a Conservative.

    Just say no to RINOs.

    Impartial7,

Once again you paint Romney poorly at the expense of truth. Romney did not "grovel" at Trump's feet. Trump absolutely was trying to humiliate Romney. He "suggested" the Department of State position to get Romney to apologize for his statement during the primaries. Romney refused. Is that "groveling"? Romney was gracious towards Trump, the victor of the campaign. Isn't that a good sign--a person who after the campaign can put things behind him and go to work to get things done? That is what Romney was willing to do. Trump, on the other hand, was trying to kick Romney for declaring Trump to be the phony and fraudster that he really is.

Romney is brilliant and principled. Utah would be lucky to have him as Senator.

I'm sorry I need to inform the State politicians about this, but President Trump is trying to drain the swamp of all the swamp creatures, not add to them. Mr. Romney is just another in the long list of these creatures that need to be removed so that We, The People can reclaim our country.

We need more Mike Lee's and fewer Mitt Romney's.

Why are these politicians doing this? I think it is to try to keep a true conservative from being the candidate.

I thank him for his help during the Olympics, but his meddling could have cost the Republicans the election and the Supreme Court. What was he thinking?

His attacks on Trump were overboard. The people gave him a large majority of the electorial college.

Even I would vote for Romney over Hatch. ANYBODY BUT Hatch.

Mitt is a fine man who has served his church, his home Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and even the Salt Lake Olympics with distinction.

But the fact is, he isn't a Utahn. He was raised in Michigan, raised his family and made his business life in New England. His stint at BYU, his work on the Olympics, and his owning a home in Park City don't change that. He is also 70 years old.

We have a lot of well qualified people who are long time Utah residents, who understand our local issues, both urban and rural, that we ought to be recruiting to serve in the Senate. Many of these people are young enough to have plenty of service left in them while still being well matured and proven in local Utah politics.

Mitt was a fine governor for Blue State Massachusetts. But until he ran for President he spent his life as pro-choice on abortion, anti-RKBA, and almost nobody east of Colorado has any idea of the importance of land use or water laws here in the West. Very few appreciate our history of motorized recreation, ranching, or even how speed limits affect us.

Let's find a long time Utahn rather than importing a New Englander.

The better solution is to shrink gov't not find people we like to temporarily fill seats of gov't.

The issue is the size of gov't not who runs it.

He warned us about Russia. He warned us about Trump. Right on all accounts he is the smartest politician out there.

Question isn't whether he'll be Senator. Question is how many points he'll beat Trump by in the primaries.

Utahns plugged their noses really tight and voted for Trump. I can't wait until they have a better choice.

Romney needs to stay out. He rightly called out Trump as a "phony and a fraud". Then he groveled at Trump's feet to be Sec.State. Recently, Trump's people said that Trump never considered Romney, he just wanted him to eat crow. Trump is toxic, Romney is too naive to be a US Senator.
