Utah singers, David Osmond and April Meservy, will join Tom Thumb and other cast members from the movie, "The Greatest Showman," in the Hollywood on Broadway production of “Angels of the Greatest Showman” coming to Kingsbury Hall in Salt Lake City, Feb. 8-9.
Osmond, lead singer of the Osmond 2nd Generation and star of the TV Show "Wonderama," performed as the understudy for Donny in "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" and eventually took the lead role.
Five-time Pearl Award Winning artist, April Meservy is a local singer/songwriter. She has written and released several albums and is known for her cover of the hit song "With or Without You" that was featured in the 2018 Olympics. She recently won the Audience Choice Award at the 17th Annual LDS Film Festival Awards.
Both Osmond and Meservy are excited to join the cast as PT and Charity Barnum and will be performing the duet, "A Million Dreams," in one of the live performances during the show.
Other locals joining the cast are the talented choreographer, Eldon Johnson, from Odyssey Dance Company, and Amy Whitcomb, BYU Noteworthy Director. A contestant and performer on the TV shows, "The Voice and Sound Off," Whitcomb is composing a new a cappella piece as a special number for this production and will perform as a vocalist in several of the musical numbers.
Live performances of the popular songs and dances will be seen during the film viewing. The 25-member cast includes several actors from the movie who will join in the performances and discuss the film on a question-and-answer panel after the show.
LucianoAcuna, Jr. (who portrayed Dog Boy in the film) expressed his excitement to be a part of this production, saying, "...this will be a magical experience!"
