Good thinking missionaries. You all played it well....plus someone was looking
out for you.
Well, at least they tried the, "Silver and gold have I none..." line
first. The text was brilliant. 911 location tracing is tough and
doesn't even work in some areas. Texting a friend allowed them to respond
quicker and more accurately. The church should consider silent panic apps.Did they get a second appointment?
Most people today don't carry much money, some of us none at all.
Anybody with street smarts should know that Mormon missionaries won’t be
carrying wads of cash.
“Plus, why didn't the missionary with the phone just call the cops
instead of calling a friend?”First off, it was my son who sent
the text, not a phone call, to a member to contact the police. Is this momma
glad he didn’t pull out his phone and call 911 in front of a drunk waving
a loaded gun and knife around?? Guess what momma thinks?
The guy should have gotten a job to earn the money he needs.
Because a text is silent. The missionary would have to talk to the police on the
phone. Smart missionary
@Conservative"Plus, why didn't the missionary with the
phone just call the cops instead of calling a friend?"Obviously
because the guy with the gun would probably panic if the missionary was holding
a telephone up to his ear. You can text much more inconspicuously than you can
call. And you can't text the police.
"...why didn't the missionary with the phone just call the cops instead
of calling a friend?"Probably the most excitement they've
had in some time. I'm proud of their Christian restraint. In my mission, we
would have knocked him out. Just sayin...
This is the wrong thing to do. Missionaries will win every time. Someone is
watching out for them.
Hmmm. Sounds as though the four missionaries reacted appropriately. Poor Mr.
Willie might have chosen other more profitable targets had he known that LDS
missionaries serve "without purse or scrip", sort of. Good to know
there were no injuries.
jeez, this guy must be new to the area. everyone knows missionaries don't
have a lot of money. The first rule of robbery is to pick a target that is
likely to produce a positive result.Plus, why didn't the
missionary with the phone just call the cops instead of calling a friend?
