I love that Trump is a fighter. The GOP has been spineless for far too long.
Maybe Trump and Pelosi just need to fight their squabbles out in the school
yard. Let's get on with governing, please. Their pettiness is shameful.
@Marigold“The Hill (and other media sources) reported that
during the last presidential cycle 95 per cent of Federal workers contributed to
the H. Clinton campaign.”Funny thing about facts is they can
be misleading when key elements are excluded. For example, while many federal
employees are generous with their contributions to the combined federal
campaign, we’re pretty cheap when it comes to contributing to political
candidates; easier not to than to figure out the ins and outs of the Hatch Act.
The various federal employee unions on the other hand are quick to contribute to
political candidates and do contribute heavily to democrat candidates. And, oh
by the way, federal employees are not required to pay union dues and a
significant number, yours truly included, don’t.
@marigoldTrump and McConnell shutdown the government. Spending
originates in Congress not with Trump.Imagine how bad trump would
look if McConnell wasn’t giving Trump cover.
Folks, do a bit of research. The Hill (and other media sources) reported that
during the last presidential cycle 95 per cent of Federal workers contributed to
the H. Clinton campaign.
@my_two_cents_worth - regarding Marigold's use of quotes.Not
every time a quote is used is because it is quoting someone. Often it is used to
emphasize linguistics. Sometimes you have to use a little logical analysis in
thought to determine the use of that punctuation. The way I read
Marigold's post the term "lawmakers" is being put in quotes to
emphasis that Pelosi is a member of the Legislative branch of government. As
such; and in respect to my posts regarding the powers of the three branches of
government. It should be noted that the military is a part of the Executive
branch of government. Therefore it is not necessary for a "lawmaker" or
someone in the Legislative branch to be visiting the military overseas. That is
not her authority nor part of her job at all. Now, she might do her
job better if she realizes what is going on over there, that is certainly part
of "supporting" (emphasizing her role) other branches of government. So,
I have no problem with her making such a trip. But, it is not a necessary trip;
and she should NOT be using the military aircraft for such a trip (even if the
government was not shut down); because she is not a member of Executive branch.
Walls and fences have worked for thousands of years. And yes, they still work
in our modern sophisticated world. Can people penetrate them? Yes, if really
determined. But are they a deterrent? Absolutely. Are they cost effective?
Absolutely! I am quite certain that 99% of Congress have fences and walls for
their yards and homes. And I dare guess they also have doors with locks on
them. Why do so many spend their time trying to refute this common
sense truth? And why are so many respondents here just regurgitating the
political rhetoric of the liberal news suggesting they are not effective? If
true, why did so many Democrats build some of the existing border walls?Get on with it. Build the wall/fence/("barrier"is the new
term). But get on with it. Protect America. Discourage people from risking
their lives and their children's to cross the border by setting up solid
barriers. Then add all the electronics, drones, etc that should come
with it (and President Trump has said will come with it.)Stop the
nonsense. To refute this is just dumb. And anyone who refutes that is a
hypocrite if he/she has a fence... or locks their door when away or at night as
far as that goes.
@ I am LDS 2,Democrats have not approved and supported legitimate
immigration and secured our borders in intelligent ways. How can you say that
the democrats have secured our borders intelligently when they are the ones in
favor of protecting criminal illegal aliens in sanctuary cities and want to
abolish ICE. The democrats hatred for Trump is so paramount than they
don’t have any other concern.
Poor Nancy. Can't travel to foreign countries to take care of the citizens
she really cares about. She and the Democrats could give a rip about US
Citizens, Thats their MO and what's so sad is almost half of the US buys
into the scam. Go Trump GO..
"Why are democrats so opposed to securing our borders?"They're not. That's just more Trump-speak nonsense. As Trump and
many other "cons"(-ervatives) have admitted, Democrats have approved and
supported immigration reform, securing our borders in intelligent ways,
including components of a "wall", on a number of occasions in the recent
past -- ironically, a past where Republicans controlled ALL of Congress and the
Whitehouse! So, why wasn't this an "emergency" back when
Trump and his duped minions controlled everything? Why is it suddenly an
"emergency"?The only possible answer is that Trump and
Cons(-ervatives) are the one politicizing this!Get a clue!
For Pelosi and her entourage to leave Washington when she should be negotiating
with the President on this issue is irresponsible at best. "I'm
not for a wall." Pelosi said twice... Pelosi needs to realize that it
isn't her call. The American people elected Trump partly because of a
desire to strengthen our boarders. President Trump is fulfilling a campaign
promise. Just because Pelosi doesn't like Trump or the campaign platform
that elected him, doesn't mean she has the right - legally, ethically, or
morally to ignore the millions of Americans who elected him OR the
recommendations of the Border Patrol Agents who repeatedly stress the need for
increased border protection. There's a very large group of Americans
who are tired of being ignored by these "elite" politicians who feel
their position gives them the authority to push through what they want rather
than representing the will of the people.Stand FIRM Mr. President!
Had to share:Lesson in history. December 17,1903 the Wright Brothers flew

I don’t thank obama for anything. He ruined this country. But
I don’t thank Trump for a whole lot either. Also, double standards are

Capitol Hill Police should be furloughed.I, too, love the cancelling

dollars for a bus on top of her ridiculous trip.@Fully Present and
Lone Eagle. You have the best responses yet.
I disagree with President Trump cancelling her flight. I wish he would have
waited and cancelled the return flight. MAGA!
I see the children are fighting again, do we have an adult in the room to help?
I really appreciate seeing the President stand up to Pelosi. Good move Mr.

Democrats??) who would love to work and get paid. Nancy Pelosi is the epitome of

The solution is simple: Madam Speaker, agree to fund border security and
government will reopen. Why are democrats so opposed to securing our borders?
Walls work as part of that security, just look at Madam Pelosi's home, or
the Vatican. Increasing security for our border is akin to using the locks
external doors come with. How many people lock their doors to prevent break-ins?
What President Trump is wanting is the same thing, an ability to prevent
She had no business leaving the country on a tax payer funded junket while the
government is shut down. It's going to take negotiations to end this
shutdown and she can't negotiate effectively from Denmark, Egypt or
Afghanistan. Trump was absolutely right to cancel that and every
other trip until the shutdown ends. Every member of congress should be
restricted to DC for the duration, no going home to their families and
districts, no junkets, no vacations nothing. They stay in DC until they
actually start talking and work out a compromise that both sides can accept.
Ideally the leadership of both parties and both houses should be locked in a
room until they can come to an agreement. Then put that agreement to the full
House and Senate to vote, and then send it to the President to Sign or veto. If
he were to veto it, then they should attempt an over-ride or re-negotiate.Pelosi should have cancelled that trip the moment the Shutdown started.
Her job is in DC, not visiting the Troops or any other nation.
Pelosi requesting to go oversees after she said she thinks federal workers
should not be asked to work for free during the shutdown is quite hypocritical.
I hope everyone finds a compromise soon. I feel bad for federal
workers who are pawns to both parties' whims.
Isn't nothing more than grand hypocrisy to see the First Lady fly in her
comfortable Government Jet to Florida? And I wonder if the various other
higher-ups in the Trump administration are curtailing their travel plans?Trump's tantrums inevitably yield little results. And taunting the
Speaker of the House will most likely only strengthen her resolve. And folks, never forget, that Speaker Pelosi is next inline for the Presidency
should Trump and Pence both be bounced out of office.
They are both childish. No wonder they cant compromise. If Trump
can't use the Congress then maybe he can do it from some other venue.Perhaps Trump also can have a little grace.
Poor VP Pence just keeps on plucking along as a decoration to Trump.
@Marigold"lawmakers?" Why the quotation marks?
Is the speaker not, in fact, a lawmaker.“(most of them

trump is acting like a child again, dis-allowing the use of a plane by the
speaker of the housec',mon, Republicans, get that guy outta here
Trump shouldn't have shut down the gov't and then gone to visit the
troops. Pelosi should not go visit the troops while the gov't is shut down.
They all could have gone to visit the troops after they had a budget approved
and the gov't up and running again. Until then the President, Jared/Ivanka,
and no member of Congress should go on vaction until the shutdown is over. Can
you imagine anyone else not doing their job and then telling their boss they are
going to go on vacation? What goes on in D.C. would never be tolerated in the
private sector, city, county, and state gov'ts. Only in Washington.
The pettiness, power tripping, and immature behavior of Pelosi, Trump and
McConnell at the expense of federal employees, the deficit, the economy, and so
many others is inexcusable. They do not deserve to be in office when they
disrespect their offices and the American people like this. A
"big, beautiful wall" isn't needed for the United States-Mexico
border. A barrier in “strategic locations” is needed along with
other things like beefing up the Coast Guard, and technology monitoring. Nancy
needs to stop saying no wall. It is a lie. Trump and his supporters need to
get off their kick of a "big, beautiful wall" that is needed. It is a
lie. The American people need the truth about what our almost 11
billion dollars for border security is being spent on, what more is needed for
effective border security, what it will be spent on, and when Trump and Pelosi
are going to grow up and do the jobs they were elected to do. We
have given too many politicians too much power over our country and over
taxpayers. This needs to change. Unchecked power and such misuse of power needs
A President with a backbone! Let's see: not enough security to warrant the
President delivering the State of the Union Speech at the end of January
according to Nancy Pelosi just hours before she wants to hop an Air Force jet to
go to Belgium, Egypt, and Afghanistan along with other "lawmakers?"
This while there is a partial government shut down and instead of negotiating
with the President she wants to leave the country at taxpayer expense and with
security--for her and her band of "lawmakers?" The shutdown has already

@illuminated"I love this President, a true American

U. S. service members in Iraq and Afghanistan are heroes. The thousands of men
and women of the U. S. Coast Guard who continue to defend our shores without pay
are heroes. Those in Homeland Security who come to work each and every day not
knowing if or when they will see a paycheck again are heroes. Trump
is no hero.
Pelosi : "You can't use the House chamber for your State of the Union

can't use one of my military airplanes for your trip to Afghanistan! So
there!"Sounds like the playground monitors in Washington have
been furloughed by the shutdown so the first graders aren't being sent to
the Time Out Bench to cool down.
During this shutdown Nancy has been to Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and now wants to fly
around the world?Protecting America is why she was put into office.
Get with it!
@Esquire"Cancel it. If Trump wants things shut down, then let him live
by it and not have it both ways. And if the Speaker says no, then Trump
doesn't speak at the Capitol."Laughable. You are saying
that Trump can't have it both ways. While defending Pelosi. Who believes
that the speech should not happen because she wants security. Yet, she wants to
take off on a government funded plane to go talk to front line troops about
security. Yet she dismisses the our own countries security. What is more
important, security on a foreign land, or our own? Yeah, and Trump wants it
both ways. Trump wants it one way. Pelosi is the one who denied him, giving a
reason she wants to break so she can travel. Laughable. And if the
President says no, then Pelosi doesn't get to fly on a military plane.
Pelosi gets to decide whether and when to start impeachment hearings. She's
doing the country a tremendous favor by not sacrificing the dignity of the House
in order for Trump to salivate over himself and what kind of great job he thinks
he's doing. Giuliani virtually admitted last night the Trump
campaign colluded with a foreign adversary. How many GOP standing ovations does
Trump deserve for that?

@Spokane Ute,You have revised history if you now disavow that Trump
didn’t state over and over again that Mexico would pay for the wall. His
revised story (which was first tweeted on Dec. 13th) and yours, is that Mexico
will pay for the wall through decreased tariffs resulting from the USMCA trade
agreement. That is hogwash and has been pooh-poohed by many economists. The DNs
dislike for imbedded links prevents me from listing scores, but you can do the
research. Most of Mexico’s tariffs were already been eliminated
when NAFTA was launched. Regardless, companies not countries pay tariffs. So any
savings would accrue to pass-throughs to American citizens, not to the
governement. Whatever savings may result from the proposed new trade agreement,
even if you believed the faulty premise, would not pay the O&M on the wall
let alone the capital cost to construct it. I suspect the unpaid
federal workers are “tired of winning”, as am I. It’s time for
Trump to bring this debacle to an end.
Trump also cancelled his meeting at the world economic forum. Pelosi
can't imperil his State of the Union address, she has no control over it.

most important member of Congress and stands third in line to become president.
Since Donald Trump won't visit the troops in active military zones of
conflict, why not have a congressional delegation visit to get information?
It's done all the time and comes with the job. Congress oversees the
funding of the military and members often want to see what the men and women
want and need to do their jobs effectively. When Trump visited Iraq
(after avoiding it for two years and then not even visiting with Iraqi
officials), it was to talk about himself and very little time given to briefings
and information gathering. You might go so far as to say you don't see any
reason for Trump to travel to visit the troops since he doesn't learn
anything about their situation.Trump has his opinions. They're
pretty much the same as what he held thirty years ago. He has zero curiosity. He
doesn't learn. He has no interest. But he has his opinions. We know this
because White House aides tell us this.
Two things I find interesting. First there is the constant divisiveness of both
parties in Congress to constantly blame the other, while both parties watch the
ship (nation) sink. Congress has failed to act for literally decades upon
decades as each party played one-up-man-ship for political gain. Second, I do
not believe Pelosi needs to be traveling over seas to "visit the
troops". She is NOT the Commander-in-Chief! If she wants to travel like
any citizen, then fine, but let her pay her own travel expenses. The bottom
line in Washington is that diplomacy and statesmanship are completely dead. We
do not elect these people to represent one half of the people. While they may
be elected based on the platforms of their party, once elected, they should
represent ALL of us.

falsify or exaggerate so many claims when describing his Presidency?
@Spokane UteI find it incredulous for you to claim the President did not
declare during the election that Mexico would directly pay for the wall.
However, assuming it was the president's intention to get Mexico to pay for
it in a manner you describe, why has no tariff, tax, or fee ever been proposed
or implemented while he has been in office? Many of these things could be done
unilaterally by him. And incidentally, tariffs imposed by the US government are
paid by....US consumers.
@spokane ute"Trump never said that Mexico would write a check
for the wall."False. Trump absolutely and repeatedly claimed
that Mexico would directly pay for the wall during his campaign. After he was
elected, he literally begged Mexican President Nieto to stop saying that Mexico
would not pay for the wall. Here's a direct quote from the phone
transcript of Trump's begging:"I have to have Mexico pay

period..." Donald Trump, Jan 28, 2017"He said the United
States would get the money back through tariffs, taxes, feestaxes other

pay for the wall. That's not how tariffs and trade deals work. Paying for
the wall through any of those methods means that the US taxpayer is indirectly
covering those costs. The only way Mexico pays for the wall is if Mexico writes
a check. All other proposals from Trump saddle the US taxpayer, directly or

This, and every state of the union should be what the constitution asks it to
be. A report. A written report with recommendations. That's it. It's
not a platform for the president, nor should it be. As for trump, he has
since responded in true fashion. He's denied Pelosi the use of an aircraft
for an overseas trip she had planned in her capacity as representative. I
noticed he got in his photo op to the border himself before he pulled this one.
@Traveller,I have to disagree with your assessment then if you are
"serious." Doesn't matter that they wrote about congress first; it
is clear that they wanted a system where no one could take control over the
country; to ensure life, liberty and justice for all. In that; they carefully
crafted a design of three branches each must support the others; but also each
has some power over the others to ensure that no one can usurp all the power.Congress was never intended to have more power than the other two
branches. The reason there is as you say "the most consensus and
coalition-building" was because not only was the government to have three
distinct and limited branches of government; but the law makers must come from
the people itself (hence why it is the People's House); to be a
Democratic-Republic (that is the people elect those that represent them in
crafting the laws that we all must live under).Further, the
"Great Compromise" was that larger States shouldn't over power the
will of smaller States; but the will of the people must be counted, hence
Congress was split in two ruling bodies, one for representing States and one for
representing the population of people.
I love Trump's just fire shot at Pelosi. One hour before leaving on an 8
day junket, Trump cancelled her use of military plains. Saying if the shut down
was affecting others she shouldn't be leaving D.C. Still want to go and
avoid negotiating an end to the shut down, fly civilian. I broke out laughing
thinking of Pelosi's fit. All realize Trump is not limited to giving a
state of the Union in the house chambers, he can do it from my back porch. I
would gladly welcome him.
Thid, "Complaints are not solutions, they are excuses for solutions!"OOOOh! If only that logic was applied by conservatives back in 2008.
Just imagine, if you will, the Republican recession would not have lasted as
long, America would have affordable healthcare, the war in the Middle East would
have ended, and Russia would not have colluded with Trump to destroy our great
nation.Double standards are horrific!
@NeifyT No, I was serious. Yes each of the branches has important checks
against the power of the others, but Congress is overall the most powerful (or
it should be). The Founders understood that the most powerful and
easiest-to-abuse powers of government should go to the branch that requires the
most consensus and coalition-building to act and that is the most accountable to
the people. It is no coincidence that it is the first of the three
branches mentioned in the Constitution.
@ Spokane UteYou are wrong my friend. Trump repeatedly
said Mexico would make a "one-time payment of 5 to 10 billion dollars."
He even went on to say it "would be an easy decision for

During the past year Donald Trump repeatedly and in private expressed the desire
to withdraw the United States from the NATO alliance. Beyond an almost
heretofore unthinkable betrayal of one of the most successful alliances in
modern history -- and one founded by the United States after World War II to
counter the influence and power of the former Soviet Union in a war, such a move
could be seen as surrendering Europe to Vladimir Putin and Russia. This is one more example of Donald Trump's behavior that validates the
logic and reasoning behind the counterintelligence investigation opened by the
FBI in 2017, in order to determine whether the president of the United States,
is actually a Russian asset. This may all seem unimaginable. However,

At BYUgardner Trump never said that Mexico would write a check for
the wall. He said the United States would get the money back through tariffs,
taxes, feestaxes other means. This was confirmed prior to him get elected when
Sean Hannity questioned him. You should get your facts straight, a little
research goes a long ways. The Spin game grows old and tiresome.
When the president campaigned that Mexico would pay for the wall, why does he
feel he is fulfilling a campaign promise to have US taxpayers pay for it? If
building the wall is such a high priority (or even a good idea), why didn't
it happen the last two years when Republicans controlled both houses of
congress? The president has signed spending bills for two years without wall
funding. He campaigned on it during the mid-terms, and lost 40 house seats, and
lost 23 of the 33 senate elections. Why does he feel that he is entitled to the
wall? Let's also remember how we got here. This shutdown
started when Republicans still controlled the house. The senate had already
passed a bill in accordance with the president's wishes. The Democratic
house has now passed the same bill. The issue is that the president keeps
changing his position. The president said he was going to shut down the
government, and the Democrats pleaded with him not to do it.It
appears our reality star president wants headlines, and that he doesn't
want them to be about Russia.
@Traveller,I can't tell if your post was intended as sarcasm or
not. The first paragraph sure sounded sarcastic to me (or it is absolutely
false). However, the second and third paragraphs seem like an accurate
observation of Congress's abdication of its responsibilities.Of
course the founders intended for all three branches to hold equal power; and
provide checks and balances on each other so that no branch gains control
over the Union. For instance: Congress gets to say how the money is
spent, but the president can veto. Congress gets to declare war, but the
president is the Commander in Chief of the military and conducts such a war.
Congress gets to set immigration laws; but the president carries them out and/or
again could veto; but congress can override veto; and still yet the Supreme
Court can override congress on constitutionality of its laws. The president
picks the judges; but Congress says yea or nay. Etc. The founders very
carefully gave each branch the ability to balance the power of the other
branches. You are right Congress has abdicated their duties such
setting a budget or instituting immigration laws, and many other things.
Thid, "Why is it that all we hear from Democrats is constant complaining
about President Trump?"Really? Eight long years, day after day,
minute-by-minute and second-by-second all America heard from conservatives was
complaining about Obama. The racial slurs were unbelievable! If you want to
start a riot just yell Obama or Hillary's name. Conservatives
still have not stopped complaining and blaming. You can thank Obama
for an economy strong enough to withstand Trump's poor leadership.
The idea of postponing the State of the Union address; is appalling--in that it
is akin to saying "oh look how terrible the state of the Union is currently,
so lets wait until things get better to go in front of Congress (and the People)
to tell them how things are going."No, to be honest we need to
have the State of the Union address while the government is shut down, because
that right now is the very state of our Union, where both branches of government
want complete control over the other; and neither is willing to compromise.---But I am sure Pelosi is just worried that Trump will use
the State of the Union and its shutdown to rally his base into pressuring
Congress to do what she never wants to get done. Using the time as a "bully
pulpit."She sure can't really be worried about the
"security" or that those particular people aren't being paid--or
she would be on the phone with Trump right now negotiating a deal to get the
government open again; instead of grandstanding on "security" and
"those going without pay."---As for where the
blame goes, it goes squarely on both Republicans and Democrats; and in two of
the three branches of government (e.g. partisan politics).
The Liberal Dem's have been a no show and on vacation every since Trump
became President 2 years ago ... I say hold the State of the Union without them
.... Just look at everything that the POTUS has accomplished without them in the
last 2 years in the 1st place .....
Schumer and Pelosi haven’t been to the white house in eight days.
It’s kind of hard to negotiate
Why is it that all we hear from Democrats is constant complaining about
President Trump? Complaining must make them feel like they’re not at
fault. They think complaining keeps them off the hook for some time, at least.
The ironic thing, though, is that their constant complaining doesn’t solve
anything, never has, never will! President Trump isn't their enemy, their
hurt ego for losing the WH is their enemy. It prevents them from growing. It
prevents them from looking at the problem from an objective perspective.
Complaints are not solutions, they are excuses for solutions! Complaining is
easy, solving problems isn't! I hope the day will come when a Democrat
comes up with a solution, not just never ending complaints about President Trump
who is dedicated to solving America's problems!
The White House Office of Management and Budget estimates that the agencies
impacted by the shutdown employ at least 150,000 veterans. On Tuesday
several veterans groups including AMVETS held a press conference demanding an
end to the partial government shutdown. The shutdown is affecting
thousands of veterans right now and the President doesn't seem to care.
Sorry well informed, but Veterans are getting their benefits/entitlements and
help they need. How do I know I am a Veteran, got my benefits just fine.
@ LeonidasWhat Trump is doing to our Veterans by not providing them
the assistance they need during this shutdown is shameful.
Could we just focus on restoring the government and paying those federal
employees the wages we promised to pay them?
The Donald can tweet it like he does all policy and troop removals.
@Impartial7In fact, Speaker Pelosi is selling herself short.
Congress is not supposed to be co-equal with the President and the courts. The
founders intended Congress to be the most powerful of the three branches. It is
in the pre-eminent place in the Constitution and it holds some of the strongest
federal powers, including how our money is spent, when we go to war,
immigration, and even oversight of the other two branches (impeachment and
appointment of judges). However, over the years Congress has
delegated more and more of its powers to the President rather than face the
consequences of doing its job. If the balance of power was where the founders
intended it to be, Congress would be leading, not just cheering or opposing the
President. Much as I disagree with Speaker Pelosi, I'm almost
sorry to see her lose on this issue. Having Congress realize that it should be
in charge on some things would be a step in the right direction.
Pelosi holds the cards on this. All of them. And there should be no doubt what
Trump would have done in the State of the Union:1. Politic for the
wall.2. Whine about the Mueller witch hunt.Maybe he'd
also tell us that Putin is our friend, North Korea is (really, they are) going
to get rid of those nukes, and ISIS really is dead.No end to the
shutdown, no speech.
Cancel it. If Trump wants things shut down, then let him live by it and not
have it both ways. And if the Speaker says no, then Trump doesn't speak at
Well played Ms. Pelosi, well played.
Another cheap, transparent move by Pelosi. Shameful.
"Democrats are always reluctant to let Trump speak directly to the people.
Every time Trump gets direct air-time, his popularity and support spike upwards.
The people get to see that he is not the cartoonish straw-man version that the
propaganda media has been desperately trying to create."Quite
the opposite. Every time he speaks he reminds us all that he can barely speak
without praising himself. If you cant see it that is on you. The
emperor has no clothes. Someday that 33% who still supports him will finally
realize it...or not.
If the State of the Union were simply delivered by letter to Congress I for one
wouldn't miss the pageantry. The speech is always just an interminable
laundry list of the president's current priorities with a ridiculous amount
of mostly insincere applause from one side of the floor or the other. Trump being Trump obviously the speech will go forward.

The Democrats are just mad because they have nothing else to worry about. The
heck with the US citizen or the southern border issues. Let’s worry about
the speech. Good grief Time to head to a beach community to meet
with our lobbyist
Constitutionalists,The only Constitutional provision is that the President
deliver a statement to the Congress of the 'state of the nation'. The
Congress is not obligated to entertain the President or the public with a
televised in-person delivery of said message. The outrage from the GOP for the
Speaker requesting the President to delay a public appearance for good cause is
simply empty political rhetoric.Trump has the option of giving his
statements to the Congress in writing, and making a speech at the time and place
of his choosing.Furthermore, the argument I've heard that the
Speaker's action violates tradition is rich indeed. The President ran on a
platform that asked the American public to shake up things and do it
differently. Of course, this shake up wasn't meant to impugn the
President's ego, but there it is.
Pelosi and her 'resistance' in their finest hour - NOT
President Trump's State of the Union speech will be a wonderful! He will
speak about new found prosperity and progress for all Americans! He comes from a
position of strength and leadership because of him, GOP power in the Senate, the
WH and the SCOTUS is stronger than ever! The Trump economy is the envy of the
world, our military is once again the best in the world, ISIS is defeated so our
brave, victorious troops are coming home from Syria and Afghanistan! Peace
prospects with NKO are higher than ever. Wages are up, taxes are down, millions
of new jobs were created and prosperity abounds for all Americans, including
minority Americans. GDP is now nearly double of what it was before President
Trump was elected. We have so much to be happy about in America, the greatest
nation on earth! Obstruction and opposition from the left is still there but
they are losing on every issue! We stand with you Mr. President because YOU
stand with us and you keep your promises! President Trump has made the
government the servant of the people, not the other way around! God bless
America and God bless President Trump!
The House of Representatives should immediately open a formal impeachment
inquiry. Trump has failed to keep his oath of office and routinely privileged
his self-interest above the responsibilities of the presidency. The
president has also demanded that public officials put their loyalty to him ahead
of their duty to the public, evinced little respect for the rule of law and has
repeatedly trampled upon Constitutional rights. These actions are, in
sum, an attack on the very foundations of America’s constitutional
democracy, impeachment is a vital protection against the dangers a president
like Trump poses. Impeachment is a process, not an outcome, which would allow
for an investigation into Trump with rule-bound procedures, something sorely
missing when the Republicans were in charge........
"Pelosi left unclear what would happen if Trump insisted on coming despite
the welcome mat being pulled away. It takes a joint resolution of the House and
Congress to extend the official invitation and set the stage."Well, it's pretty clear. The House, nor Senate Dems are going to vote for
the resolution. McConnell has refused, for 26 days, to bring a spending bill up
to a vote. Don't think Pelosi isn't reminding Trump that the Congress
has equal power. The first casualty of Federal employees should be the Capitol
police and the Secret Service. Maybe then, Congress and the President would feel
the effects real fast.
The GOP is just mad because they want to see themselves clapping for
Trump's speech while watching Fox News air "Trump's Greatest
I appreciate Speaker Pelosi's concern about security for she and other
leaders while ignoring the security needs of others threatened by the lack of
security on our southern boarder. Fact is that the professionals in our
nation's capitol say they are ready while those on the southern boarder are
begging for help. Case closed.
