LOL... In Olympus Cove "reality" is knowing the basketball record

If Utah wins both games at home this week, then I think they’ll have a
shot at doing something in the NIT.
UCLA stopped doing what had earned them a 22 point lead. UCLA went into a
"prevent defense" - running the clock out each possession and then
looking for a forced shot before the shot clock ran out. (Sound familiar,
football fans?) But Utah won the game. My unofficial stats show Utah hit 7 of 15
three pointers, 10 or 11 two pointers, and 5 of 7 free throws from the 12+
minute mark when they were 22 points behind. Those statistics will win a lot of
In Palo Alto, coug fans celebrate being ranked #86 in basketball, just like they
celebrate the margin of defeat in football. 😹
Love it any time a Utah school beats the California teams.Nice work.
Irony? "Pathetic" UCLA has by far the best physical talent in the
conference. Unfortunately, they come up short on their mental talent and the
coaching they receive.JWR surely is spinning in his grave with all
the shortfalls in the program since 1996.The only coaches on the
national scene who can stem the tide are unlikely to leave their current
jobs.This Bruin can only weep......
@Who am I sir? — @79UteIt was named the "Manny Hendrix
Miracle Shot."I was at that game but almost left because my
buddy said, "No way Utah's going to win this one." I tried to argue
with him that it "ain't over until it's over." But he
wouldn't listen and got up and left. I followed him but lagged behind and
stood at the top of one of the side entrances and watched as Wyoming tossed the
ball out-of-bounds. Utah's Gale Gondrezick then inbounded the ball to Manny
as he rose up caught the ball in the air and knocked down the shot with only
1-second on the clock. Needless to say, the crowd went
"Wild!" None of us could believe what we had just witnessed — one
of the most improbable victories in the history of UofU basketball.Afterward, I ran out to tell my buddy what had happened and he didn't
believe me — until I let him listen for himself on my portable radio. The date was March 4, 1985. The final score was Utah 61, Wyoming 60.After the game, Wyoming coach Jim Brandenburg said, "We snatched
defeat from the jaws of victory."Want to learn more? Google the

Way to go Utes!... from you friends down south at BYU.

@79uteThanks for the correction. I hate to be wrong. And I am
especially embarrassed that my timing was mostly because I was off by a decade
as to how much younger my boys are than me!
79Ute:Mike Newlin, Ken Gardner, Jim Mahler, Peaches Laster — I
went to all those games as a U student; thanks for the memories.Regarding yesterday’s game, the only thing missing was a national
broadcast with Bill Walton; although a little of his commentary goes a long way,
for me he’s a guilty pleasure...
"Were you on the court?" -- BlutoHaha! Bluto is so crushed
at Utah's 22-pt comeback win, that he's throwing a tantrum. I love
it!Have fun playing "small ball" in "high school"

Actually the pillow fight came later in provo, and anywhere Gonzaga plays in the

CG from Provo was on the right track. Nothing could possibly happen this
basketball season that would be more humiliating than losing to a mediocre team
like BYU, from a bad conference like the WCC (sans Gonzaga of course).
Therealnd“CG, if BYU can do it, anyone can. Right?”Against a team that’s lost 6 of their last 8, sure.
It’s interesting how some of the same posters who are now singing
PVD’s praises, were calling for him to be benched permanently just a
couple of weeks ago.
Fantastic!! Go Utes!
But seriously folks! - Salt Lake City, UTFeb. 9, 2019 11:15 p.m.Another pillow fight among .500 teams.Wow, how bad is the pac these
days.-----I don't get it, BYU plays in bad one bid
conference every year. But for some reason they keep asking how bad the PAC-12
is.For crying out loud, the P12 isn't as bad as WCC is EVERY
year and that hasn't stopped BYU fans from celebrating 3rd place finishes.
It’s always an accomplishment to overcome a 20-point deficit on the
road. That said, UCLA has lost 6 of their last 8 games; obviously a
team that is struggling.
Congratulations on a nice comeback win Utes!
Bluto: "Who's "we" ?Were you on the court?"Yes, in spirit we all were. And that jealous, worn-out, unimaginative
response should be retired.
That was a hard game to watch for most of it, but the Utes’ comeback
finish, in front of a network TV audience, made it all worth it. That effort
will pay big dividends. And seeing the shocked look on the faces of
the UCLA team and fans? Man, that was the cake under the icing!
I can only chuckle at the fans of our little blue brother in Provo who have come
have posted comments about the UTES great comeback win over UCLA.What I don't understand is that their team is rated 80th by Sagarin and
the UTES 91st..the difference in their individual ratings is .61, not
significant. And while they did beat the UTES handily in December, I am betting
that is not the case now. Any team can get lucky...look at BTW,
Sagarin has the PAC12 rated as the 6th best conference...and the West Coast as
the 11th. Playing in a conference that is almost always only gets one
invite when you are never the best team make all the dissing of the UTES by the
football-centered school down south laughable.
Nice to see Utah humble the mighty Uclans.
PVD...the ultimate grinder...the ultimate UTE.What an amazing finish
to a game that, at one point, Utah was down 22.An absolute burst of
sunshine for a team that, at times this season, seems to have been lost and
alone on some forgotten highway.Go Utes!
“Who's ‘we’ ?”Pluto:Everyone who is not “you” and “yours.”
What a comeback, should be a answer to a trivial question, what team won a game
without ever leading during game time? (ball went through after time expired)
hopefully this win will be a huge learning experience for the kids, play hard,
never give up until the whistle blows and you never know what might
happen...Allen is going to be a stud (if not already) Gach has the chance to
become a very, very good player, Battin is starting to really find himself on
the court, and they're all Freshmen, things all looking up on the Hill, as
always, a Great day to be a Ute
As a die hard Cougar, I’ve gotta give props to Utah. It wasn’t just
the buzzer beater. It was a darn good comeback. Extremely hard to say it
but...well done, Utes.

Great win. Always a few who have to take cheap shots at either the U, BYU, or
the PAC 12. No need for trash talk.
PVD all over Sports Center tonight, including #1 on best plays segment.Congrats Parker and the rest of the team!

Another pillow fight among .500 teams.Wow, how bad is the pac these days.
I sat amid UCLA fans who were absolutely stunned. One guy was screaming that he
was sick of this kind of play, but almost all the rest of them were just staring
out at the court with wax statue expressions on their faces. Then a few just
started smiling and shaking their heads. I absolutely did NOT dream the Utes
were going to have a chance to win this until Timmy Allen's offensive
rebound put back. And even then, it looked impossible. Went and had a beer at
Rocco's in Westwood afterwards and when I walked in--people still had
shocked looks on their faces. I don't care about the records, the season or
the strength of the opponents schedule---this one was one for the ages. Man,
they fought hard when it looked hopeless. Some youngsters really grew up today.
Great comeback win Utah!!! That's an amazing sweep of the SoCal schools!
Keep it up!
This game took me back some 50 years. Utah vs. Wyoming. Wyoming led by1 point
with somewhere like 2 seconds to go and they had the ball out of bounds! There
was a time out called and I spent the entire time telling my sons why Utah could
not win the game. Well, Wyoming tried a long inbounds pass that was not
touched! (All they had to do was have it touched in bounds and the time would
expire - as I told my boys) Well, because it was not touched Utah got the ball
out of bounds in their end of the court. Ball in - on a touch shot by Manny
Hundricks - ball through the net! I then had to explain for quite a long time
how Utah did win. Now I have to explain to my grandkids how Utah could win this
game when they trailed the game from buzzer to buzzer and no overtime! This just added to today's euphoria. Utah 7 - opponents 0. Not a score

Women's softball won 2 games, women's tennis, women's swim/diving

What an incredible comeback! In Pauley Pavillion, no less. It
shows how fun playing in a legitimate P5 conference can be, unlike conferences
like the WCC where you have one good team and the rest are the equivalent of
high school teams playing in high school gyms.

That was a sweet shot for sure, and it capped off a great comeback!
WOW, what a win! Just an unbelievable comeback, it's one for the ages! The
future is bright with the freshmen playing so many minutes and you can see the
improvement. I think this might have been Riley's best game, throw in Timmy
Allen's quiet 22 points, and contributions by Both Gach have the Utes
pointed in the right direction. Coach K has coached his tail off this season!
Congrats to Parker Van Dyke, it's his time to shine!
Super exciting what we accomplished today!PVD, et al, were beyond

I finally got to see the Utes play. What a great finish, but they should have
never been in it with such a poor first half. I'm not hating on the Utes.
They never gave up, hustled and came through when it mattered. That is worth
celebrating!I don't think they will win the conference tourney
to get in the dance, but 2nd is a possiblity and if they can get in the
championship game, anything can happen. I hope they do it and can build for next
Epic comeback. So happy for PVD, always like the maturity, leadership and poise
he brings. He will indeed remember that shot and comback (as they all will) for
the rest of his life. Go Utes!
Congratulations to Parker Van Dyke, our local boy, and the rest of the Utes
today. It was nice to see his shots go in today. Hopefully he can bottle that up
and keep it going. The Cali road sweep was indeed sweet. Down goes

Wow! What a come back win with clutch shooting by PVD! Allen and Battin were
